1736 Family Crisis Center
Description
1736 Family Crisis Center serves vulnerable community members in the greater Los Angeles area. They work to help children, adults, and families through crisis circumstances, including domestic violence, homelessness, abuse, neglect, poverty, substance use, post-traumatic stress disorder, and distress, and to improve their prospects for long-term housing, safety, survival, financial stability, and success.
Volunteers help with childcare, grocery shopping, client mentoring, academic tutoring, financial and employment coaching, tax preparation, shelter beautification, and special projects, including an annual holiday store. Volunteers can specify a preferred work site (including in the South Bay), but locations are confidential. Volunteers can fill out an interest form (https://www.1736fcc.org/give/volunteer-and-internships) and can specify desired geographic region, including the South Bay.
